• Michelle Thau, RDH is a paramedical and permanent cosmetic tattoo artist and the founder of North State Scalp Center and has been providing medical and cosmetic tattooing to Northern California since 2005. As a dental hygienist and former member of the Dental Division at Enloe Hospital Cancer Center's Head and Neck Tumor Board, Michelle expanded her knowledge of diseases which can affect body image and hair loss. It was this experience which inspired Michelle to begin education on permanent cosmetic application with an emphasis on medical tattooing. 
• In 2005, Michelle received certification in micropigmentation from International Cosmetique and opened Le Beau Visage (the beautiful face) Permanent Cosmetics in Chico, CA. In 2008 Michelle completed "Advanced Techniques in Areola Restoration" and "Advanced Color Theory" continuing education classes. Physician recommended, today, her business has grown and has inspired the development of North State Scalp Center. 
• Michelle graduated from college with academic honors with an Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1998. As a licensed professional, she understands the importance of a sterile work environment. Michelle is the author of the Exposure Control & Infection Prevention (ECIPP) handbook endorsed by Butte County for the Body Art industry for infection prevention compliance with AB300.  
• In 2011, Michelle first placed her tattoo machine on the scalp of a client for micropigmentation. Having done many other medical related cases, she desired to expand her services and begin perfecting the art of scalp micropigmentation. Michelle worked with a local tattoo artist to create and develop (with a jig and soldering iron!) our own perfect micropigmentation needle. The results were life changing! Today, the industry has now “caught-up” with manufacturing of “micro-needles” and quality pigments specifically indicated for the scalp, making it much easier to achieve an amazing final result. It is with this vision that North State Scalp Center was launched to share with our clients this amazing technique. Through the years, Michelle has also treated many scars throughout the body resulting from injury, surgery or burns. Scalp scars can be treated in a few visits and result in fabulous results We often hear from our clients “I didn’t know you could do that”!  
  As a dedicated lifetime member of the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals, she prides herself in providing natural looking procedures and works with each individual's ethnicity and skin type to achieve the desired result prior to the start of any procedure. When not in the office, Michelle enjoys spending time with her children and family. Together the family enjoys traveling, home projects, gardening and outdoor activities such as camping, riding and off-road racing.
